BMW RECALLS – BMW issued two recalls on over 1 million vehicles in the U.S. over the weekend.

BMW Recall Information

  • The first recall involved the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve and its heater, and the second recall involved the wires controlling the system of air flow for the heater and air conditioner unit. Both issues caused fires in multiple vehicles over the years, and finally BMW is piecing the information together and taking fault. What were thought to be isolated and unrelated incidents are now discovered to be incidents all due to these PCV valve and heater/air conditioner wiring issues.
  • Unlike many other vehicle recalls involving issues that caused fire, these fires start when the vehicle is idle for a span of time. However, that span of time can be as long as a few days or as short as a few hours.
  • The vehicles included in the recall are the 128i from 2008 through 2011; and the 328i, 525i, 528i, 530i, X3. X5 and Z4 from 2007 through 2011.
  • BMW is expected to begin fixing the issue on December 18th, so owners beware! For over 1 month, your vehicle is at risk of fire.
