Ford Recalls 1.3 Million Trucks in the U.S.

There are major Ford recalls this week, as 1.3 million trucks in the U.S., including 2015-17 Ford F-150 and 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks.

Major Ford Recalls

  • The issue is with the vehicle doors, where a malfunction with the latch and/or cable is causing the door to be unable to open or close potentially. No accidents or injuries have been reported, however the danger lies in the door appearing closed but actually being open (meaning it could just fling open while driving!), or in the case of an accident the door being unable to be opened by emergency personnel. Also, it’s just a nuisance! Imagine getting locked in your vehicle, or being unable to close your vehicle door.
  • Ford will notify customers in the next month, but they have not said when the necessary parts will be available at dealers.
  • This is not Ford’s first issue with car doors either. Since 2016, 5 million Ford vehicles have been recalled for door-related issues. Ford claims this recall is entirely separate from previous ones.
  • The cost of this particular recall will be $267 million, and Ford projects that between the 2016 recalls and upcoming recalls, they will spend $935 million.
